Dog Gone for 10 Years Is Finally Going Home
More than a decade ago when Tracy Dove said her backyard was burgled and her 1 year old German Shorthaired Pointer, Charlie, was stolen from her North Alabama home.
After an exhaustive search for their four-legged family member and many, many years without him, Tracy agreed that she would never see her boy again – but she continued to keep the flow of recording of Charlie’s microchip. Last week, visibly sick German Shorthaired Pointer was found on the steps of a Brewton, Alabama church. Rescuers took the elderly dog, who had a large cancerous tumor on his chest, to a local veterinarian for treatment. Scandalously, when the vet scanned the dog for a flea, they discovered that he was Charlie, the pointer who had disappeared from his family for the last 10 years.
Tracy Dove was naturally speechless to learn that Charlie had been found after all these years, but she still considers the dog, which today looks radically different from that of the puppy she had last seen there was ten years, his family. Charlie is currently being tested to determine how serious his health problems are. Dove says that she is most likely going to have the tumor removed and is eager to make her last years the best possible.
